Jessparie
©1993 Words & music by Jacey Beaucage

Jessparie said, “It’s over now”,
Took a cab just to, prove her point,
She never had much but
Now she has less, think its wise to address this point more,

And she smiles still,
Even though things could be better
The soul in her voice
Telling the world to never forget her

Jessparie at the edge of town,
A flower dress and a paper crown,
Sang and played with her cheapo guitar,
Every note she played echoing out

And still she played on,
Even though the cops wouldn’t let her
The rain pouring down,
No one around,
But angry shop owners,
And an awestruck me

Jessparie pulled up stakes today,
Left a postcard that said goodbye,
Didn’t mail it, she left it to find,
Had no money for stamps at the time

And she smiles still,
Yes even though things could be better,
Left the card in my case,
She scribbled “boy you better play, don’t you let this go to waste
Love, me”

And she smiles still, even thought things could be better
The soul in her voice,
Still Echoing out, and no I never will forgot her, no not me
